General considerations

– The Resideo S4561A 1007U(2) gas controller must be installed outside of the access area. If the internal fuse burns out due to a short circuit, the repair of the automatic ignition controller must be carried out by Honeywell.

– To ensure reliable and long-term operation of the ignition regulator, it is recommended to install it in a place with a low ambient temperature and minimal thermal radiation. High temperatures can negatively affect the service life of the device.

– For safety reasons, it is recommended to connect the upper limit of the thermostat in series with the comfort regulators in order to automatically turn off the ignition regulator in case of overheating.

– To suppress radio frequency interference (RFI), the automatic ignition controller, including spark igniter cables, must be installed in a sufficiently shielded room.

System operation

When the comfort control system requires heating, a self-check time (Tcheck) and a waiting period (Tw) pass before turning on the built-in igniter and gas valve. Spark ignition then ignites the gas and the flame is detected by a flame extinguisher. The ignition switches off after a certain time, depending on the elapsed safe time, after the flame is established. If the flame does not occur within a safe time (Ts), the automatic ignition controller is blocked. If the flame disappears during normal operation, the controller repeats the start sequence.

These characteristics and recommendations ensure reliable and safe operation of the automatic ignition system of gas burners.
