Danfoss Oil Nozzles: Precision Spray for Efficient Combustion
Danfoss Oil Nozzles: Precision Spray for Efficient Combustion
The oil nozzle plays a critical role in the operation of oil-fired burners. Spray quality directly affects combustion efficiency, cleanliness, and fuel consumption. Danfoss nozzles provide highly accurate fuel atomization and stable performance even under continuous use.
Why Replace the Nozzle Annually?
During the heating season, micro-particles accumulate in the nozzle filter and passages, reducing spray quality. Even minor deposits alter the spray pattern and cause combustion chamber fouling. Danfoss therefore recommends replacing the nozzle every year to boost efficiency, reduce emissions, and save fuel.
Design and Operation Principle
Oil passes through the nozzle filter, swirls inside the chamber, and exits through the orifice under pressure as a fine mist. The swirl design and orifice size define the spray angle and density.
- Spray types: S – solid, H – hollow, B – semi-solid
- Spray angles: 30°, 45°, 60°, 80°
- Performance tolerance: ±4% (EN 293 / 299)
How to Choose the Right Nozzle
If the old nozzle is still legible — select an identical one. If not, use the selection table based on boiler output (kW or kcal/h), or apply this formula:
Example: Boiler output 25,000 kcal/h → 2.5 kg/h nozzle at 10 bar.
To recalculate for different pressure:
P2 = (V2² ÷ V1²) × P1
Nozzle Markings
Each Danfoss nozzle is marked with flow rate (in kg/h and US gal/h), spray angle and pattern, and certification codes (EN, OFTEC).
